Cognitively diverse teams bring together people with different styles of problem-solving and unique patterns of thought. Over a third of our portfolio is composed of companies with female founders, representing one type of cognitive diversity.

We ensure that women-founded startups are included in our deal flow and highlighted to our investment committee. We will continue to invest in women-founded companies over the next decade, and we commit to providing constructive feedback to women who pitch and are declined.

We don't just invest in female-founded ventures because we believe it's the right thing to do. We invest because women are proven to deliver higher returns:

Private technology companies led by women are more capital-efficient, achieving 35% higher ROI, and, when venture-backed, 12% higher revenue than startups run by men, according to the Kauffman Foundation.
In a study of over 350 startups, MassChallenge and Boston Consulting Group determined that businesses founded by women deliver higher revenue—more than twice as much per dollar invested—than those founded by men, making women-owned companies better investments for financial backers. The authors calculated that VCs could have made an additional $85 million over five years if they’d just invested equally in female- and male-founded startups.
Despite the severe funding gap, startups founded and cofounded by women perform better over time, generating 10% more in cumulative revenue over a five-year period, according to Boston Consulting Group.

R3i Ventures has made a pledge to the Billion Dollar Global Fund for Women and Beyond Billion.

Women make up only 9% of the venture capital industry, but R3i is a female-founded firm. We play an active role in empowering and supporting other Women in VC through active participation as a Moderator and thought leadership in Women - VC, European Women in VC, Global Board Readiness Club, the 30% Club, Women on Boards, and SheVC.
